Shortlands BR2
A charming suburb with rich history and great connections.
Shortlands is in the Greater London suburb of Bromley, located in the middle of Bromley and Beckenham. It has a long history, with evidence of an Iron Age hillfort and Roman camp discovered in the area. Formerly known as Clay Hill, Shortlands offers everything that modern families would want from suburban living, including very good rail and public transport links, decent restaurants, cafes and pubs, a thriving high street and plenty of useful amenities.
Several famous people have spent time living in or buying houses in Shortlands, including children’s author Enid Blyton, whose connection to the town is commemorated with a Blue Plaque outside her former home on Shortlands Road. Another Blue Plaque on Ravensbourne Road marks old home of Harold Bride, wireless operator onboard the ill-fated RMS Titanic.
