West Wickham BR4

A suburban haven with history and green spaces.

West Wickham is mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book and could date back even further to an earlier Roman settlement. The area remained a small village until the start of the 20th Century, when it was transformed into a larger town, thanks to the arrival of the railway and rapid urban development between the First and Second World Wars. Now, anyone wanting to buy a house in West Wickham can enjoy affluent, suburban life with plenty of 1930s housing, attractive parks, shops, restaurants and lots more.

The town has a strong sporting heritage, with non-league football club Glebe F.C. playing at local sports ground, Oakley Road. Other local clubs include Beccehamians rugby union club and Croydon rugby club (formerly Shirley Wanderers). Its proximity to London and excellent public transport links allow easy access to club games, as well as local arts and cultural events.
